Unique Archery Photography

Sports team photography is usually well……… B O R I N G.  Poses – dull.  Quality – lacking – often blurry. Lighting – unprofessional. We are excited to show AZ Archery Club what we can do for their elite club !! We did some photos before our shoot with the AZ Archery Club to just play around with what can be done (safely!) with bow and arrow.  Not only did we test best angles to feature the Archery team members with their bow drawn and at ease, but we also had fun with some dramatic shots with our model (and stellar archer.) If you are tired of your run of the mill sports team photos – contact us to discover what we can do differently for your club.

Brothers

The H Family needed some “traditional” head shot portraits of their three boys, but we wanted to do a little extra for this special family and take some more of the brothers together too.  Sunset is a great time to be on the mountain peak overlooking the valley capturing sweet sibling moments.

Basenjis

We love dogs – here are some fun shots of these two lovable basenjis – Tiki and Hana.  Tiki was very food motivated during the shoot; while Hana loved to relax and lay down on the job. She seems to love having her photo taken. 🙂   If you would love to schedule a photo shoot for your pet, furry, feathered or otherwise… give us a shout!

Scorpion Gulch, South Mountain Family Session

We knew immediately, that this location would be a perfect fit for the Davis Family.  Rustic, historical context, textured, meaningful, outdoor – perfectly suited to their love of both the outdoors, hiking, reclaimed rustic spaces and fine art. Dad (Jason Lee Davis) is an incredibly gifted multi-disciplinary artist, and you can see his work throughout the city at various venues.  Please check out his website if you’re looking for a unique piece for your home or work space.  I especially love his series “Off the Wildfire Floor” where he incorporates slide fire ash into the paintings (with permit for collection) and gives back a donation to plant 100 trees in your name. They are passionate animal lovers as well – if you love rescues, look at this series “Portrait of the Reclaimed Dog.” Along with photographing their family, we also updated his head shot for his publicity purposes.  I love it when his wife said ‘Well… you’re going to be hard to live with for the next week!’ ;D His eyes are pretty striking….  Enjoy the photos! The images below are just a few of our favorites from the whole session. If you’re looking for a meaningful family session – […]

McCormick Ranch Family Session

Photographing this sweet family was extra rewarding because Mom had been dreaming of a session capturing her family for years … and with baby on the way shortly, now was the time.  The old adage “the days are long, but the years are shot” is so true.  The only time where all the kids have matching socks, perfect hair, no stains on their shirt and everything blissfully files into the car for the perfect photo shoot….. is one that never happens and the kids away at college.  McCormick Ranch was a great location as it was easy to access – no long hikes for a 3rd trimester mamma – along with gorgeous Sonoran Desert views complete with giant saguaro, various cacti, contrasting textures of rock – and of course the mountain vistas beyond.  It’s not easy for a 14 year old teen to have ‘fun’ on a shoot with his family…. but he even got to do a little spontaneous rock climbing while we were at it.  The photos of the girls with Dad are precious… and soon there will be a 3rd daughter!  Arizona skies rarely disappoint, sunsets are one of my favorite times to shoot. Thank you Simon […]

Christmas Session at DC Ranch Market Street

Tis the season for updated family group photos for the annual Christmas cards and letters!  Had a blast photographing the beloved Grozav family again – this time in more cooler weather attire. ;D  The kids had fun climbing the gigantic mountain lion statues and Market Street was decked out in glittery finery. Such a fun evening. If you wish to book a photo session for the holidays please contact us. Thank you Elaine, Ben and the family – Merry Christmas !

Family Session in Prescott, Arizona

We love an adventure, and one we really enjoy is exploring a super cool, surreal environment – this location was beyond FUN. Can’t wait to go back…. perhaps also with our canoe we’re refinishing! We had such a fun time photographing the Ham family – they are one happy family, no need to tell them to smile – they shine from the inside out!  The kids had a blast climbing around on the giant boulders and the treat at the end was a visit by 3 hungry (and easily tricked) ducks.  Mom somehow picked the right color sweater to match the sunset!  Our daughter helped with the lighting and quickly bonded with the little girls and helped them through the trail and rocks. By the end of the shoot one of them said ‘you’re my best friend!’ to her.   So sweet!! We love to head north, next time you’re heading that way and would love to schedule a photo session, give us a shout! (yup, here’s the hungry trio – they are fooled by receipt crinkling!!)

Adventure Portrait Family Session in Sedona

We spent the day with the G family doing our Adventure Portrait Session in Sedona.  This location has it all – Oak Creek, stunning red rocks, textural fields, rustic buildings, canopied trails, super cool molten looking rocks to climb on and more.  They were dressed ready for FUN, and a change of clothes as you can see we all got wet!  The key to shooting in a popular destination is to avoid the weekend. There were still plenty of people around but we managed just the right angles to avoid them.  You may recognize this beautiful family as I photographed them previously when their daughter was a couple months old.  I love this type of session because you can play and capture the whole family enjoying their adventurous day out together.  A great mix of documentary with on-location studio lighting for the dramatic family portrait.  If your family would enjoy a day of adventure and high quality, magazine worthy documentary photographs to enjoy for a lifetime, I’d love to talk with you.
